9/14 Devlog - Skrewball.

This week while watching the video called, "Making it Matter," I like the speaker's initial statement where he says a player needs to care about how they play. If how they play doesn't matter, then their interest dies, unless something like the 'story' is interesting. I also liked the speaker's thoughts on performance for games and how he related it to real sports. He mentioned that something like Street Fighter is closer to a sport than Fifa, even though Fifa is a soccer game. I found that idea insightful and I agreed with it. Another point I liked was when the speaker brought up raising the stakes.  If there are no stakes involved, either physical, emotional, etc. then the game loses so much value.

For the game video I watched, I picked 3 on 3 basketball. I found the video interesting and it was not what I expected.  Only half the court is used and the point system is different.  It relates nothing to the game we decided to make other than players scoring points for making it on the target in our game, "Skrewball." Skrewball is a game basically like shuffleboard. 4 players slide objects together towards the center three times then tally up their total points each round for 5 rounds. You want to make it on the target and also "skrew" other players over by knocking their beads off the target. It was easy to make, and exciting to play. Our first game went to sudden death where two of us had the same score and had a 1v1.
